Omar already has 7 stolen bases and is hitting .299 and earlier today led off for the Giants. Omar went 0-4 but managed to score two runs along with a stolen base in a one run victory over the Padres.
While I understand it was time to give Peralta a chance, so far (and it's still early), it looks like Peralta at third and Omar at shortstop would have produced a better overall result for us.
I know Omar signed a big 3 year contract with San Francisco but I bet Omar would have signed a two year deal with us for 8-10 million total.
If Boone and Peralta get untracked than the gamble will have paid off. However, by improving the pitching, which it appears we have done, we actually didn't need to change the chemistry that much on the offensive side from the way it was last year.

Omar goes 3-6 in an extra inning game AND has the game winning triple. LOL, not exactly sure how Omar got a triple when the runner was on second and presumeably scored (to end the game) before Omar reach second.
Anyway, I LOVED how well Omar was swinging the bat last year. I was mildly concerned that he couldn't reach certain grounders that were on his side of the diamond and up the middle, but Omar did end last season with a plus 50 game errorless streak.
